At my day job, we spend a lot of time trying to mitigate risks. This is important work. It matters; in fact, it can potentially save lives.

Here’s the question: How do we best address risks while still making progress?

There’s no easy answer.

Risk would be minimized if no airplanes ever flew or if we never sent a man to the moon.

Yet some risks need to be taken!

The safest thing would be never to leave your home. We experienced this a bit during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Were we safer? Even at home, we could stumble and fall down the stairs.

Taking risks is part of being human!
