After setting an intention to become STRONGER this year, I feel ridiculously weak. I’m starting 2025 with a cold that’s sapping away my energy and strength.
It’s not a bad cold. I’m just a bit congested and tired. I’m grateful that Karilyn, Mikayla, and I were all fairly healthy in 2024. I’m sure I’ll feel better after taking it easy for a few more days.
Here’s how I imagine moving from weakness to strength.
- Physical strength can be measured by the number of push-ups, sit-ups, and squats I can do in a row. Weak numbers are (5, 5, and 10).
- Emotional strength is not so easily measured. I want to recognize my emotions and watch them move through me, without getting too stuck in bad places. I want to find ways to do more of what I love in this life.
- Social strength can be measured by the number of positive social interactions I have. How often do I bring a smile to the faces near me?
- Financial strength can be measured by growing our net worth, decreasing our debt, and choosing to spend more money creating memorable, life-affirming experiences.
- Another kind of strength is related to building good habits.
The good news is that I’m not starting from a place of total weakness! I already have some level of emotional intelligence, I have some good social interactions, I feel mostly good about our finances, and I have several decent habits.
It’s all about the journey! I’m grateful for where I am today and look forward to seeing where I can be tomorrow.
