For me, vision comes from “working in the muck”.
Creating a vision of the future requires context and experience. Big dreams are fine; however, unless they’re tied to the real world, there’s no bridge to get there!
Trying to prepare my goals for 2025 has been a challenge.
I don’t have much real-world experience related to some of the things I want to explore in 2025. “Run a few little experiments to understand what you don’t know” is great advice, but it doesn’t exactly inspire the masses like Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech!
Oh, to be inebriated and hydrated all day long! That’s a worthy goal! I have enough experience to picture this scenario in vivid detail.
Changing pull-ups is another scenario where I have tons of experience. I could come up with a glorious plan to make sure that we never run out of pull-ups, wipes, and changing pads!
When it comes to launching a new business or becoming a professional speaker, I’ve taken a few tentative steps forward. A vast jungle surrounds me, and I don’t have a bird’s eye view of the best way forward.
While there’s nothing wrong with the goal of taking a few more tentative steps forward, it doesn’t represent the clear Vision of a confident leader.
