Vacations

I’m sure I’ve said this before.

Vacations are so important. Certainly for me and probably for most people.

Even if you have a dream job, chances are it’s still going to be stressful from time to time. Being able to unplug, being able to relax, and experiencing something new is good for us.

When I’m on vacation, I like to focus more on my creative pursuits. I like to get away from my day-to-day business. I like to take advantage of being able to spend time in nature.

Sometimes we connect to people in a different, perhaps more meaningful, way when we’re on a vacation. Sometimes we discover something surprising about ourselves.

While I love the thought of taking a two-month-long vacation, just a day or two away can be long enough to benefit.

When I’m on vacation, I like to minimize the need to “check-in” at work. The best case scenario is being able to unplug completely. Some people like to take a vacation from their phones and computer screens. While I’ve done this before, I don’t think doing so is entirely necessary.

The important thing is to connect with the parts of you that don’t get enough attention during your daily hustle and bustle. Vacations are a great time for reflection!

“Every person needs to take one day away.  A day in which one consciously separates the past from the future.  Jobs, family, employers, and friends can exist one day without any one of us, and if our egos permit us to confess, they could exist eternally in our absence.  Each person deserves a day away in which no problems are confronted, no solutions searched for.  Each of us needs to withdraw from the cares which will not withdraw from us.”
