It’s easy to convince ourselves that only big actions matter: grand gestures, bold moves, and earth-shattering initiatives. Nothing could be further from the truth!
Habits are typically built from taking small actions over and over.
Building wealth is a good example. You don’t need to win the lottery. In fact, a surprising number of people who win the lottery end up losing all of the money they make!
Instead, it can be as simple as investing $100 a month. Many of us can scrape together an extra $100 each month. Let’s see what happens if you get in the habit of investing just $100 a month each year from age 25 to 65.
Using an investment calculator, you can verify that taking this one small action 480 times leads to about $250,000. Maybe you can’t start with $100 a month, but chances are you could increase the amount you invest each month over time.
Let’s assume you can invest $100 a month for about ten years and then $350 a month for another thirty years. This leads to over a half million dollars!
Small actions matter.
Doing just ten push-ups may not seem like much. But doing ten push-ups every other day for many months is going to make your arms a lot stronger than when you started!
