Reading or listening to good books is one of my favorite activities.
Yesterday, Malcolm Gladwell’s Revenge of the Tipping Point was released on Audible. I started listening as soon as I could.
If his first book, The Tipping Point, was about the phenomenon of social contagion, this book promises to be more about the causes and consequences of Social Engineering.
I’ll have more to say about the book after finishing it.
For now, I want to share how grateful I am to have access to inspiring books like this one. We live in a world where almost anyone can find great books to read.
While most people don’t spend a lot of time reading, the opportunity exists. And it’s not just true for books. Most people can watch great movies, listen to beautiful music, and play amazing games. Free online classes and resources allow most people to learn about any topic of interest.
This is something I love about the world today!
As a kid, I got some books from my local library, I watched some movies and TV shows, and I could learn about some topics from magazines or in school. It seemed like enough at the time.
Today, so much more content is accessible to so many more people. That’s one of the most important benefits of the World Wide Web.
While there are obvious downsides to living in a world where we are more connected by computers, I am grateful to be alive here and now.
What a fascinating ride to see improved access and greater opportunities for more people!
