Here is a post about another one of my heroes.
Steven Pressfield has the distinction of introducing us to the personification of RESISTANCE. Resistance is the part of us that resists forward motion.
I think the first Steven Pressfield book I read was The War of Art. The struggle to do creative work is real. While we may encounter many obstacles in the real world, the most devious obstacles we encounter are often self-imposed.
There is a part of us that wants to keep us safe. It wants us to stay at home doing nothing to avoid any possible challenges to the supremacy of our egos.
Don’t listen to this naysayer. This is the voice of our internal Resistance.
Instead, learn how to recognize your Resistance, to acknowledge it, and to move forward anyway.
His other books include Turning Pro and Do the Work. He also wrote The Legend of Bagger Vance, which became a movie that I thoroughly enjoyed.
One of the things that impresses me about Steven Pressfield is that he both creates art and inspires others to create art.
