Alone Time

I’m a bit more of an introvert than an extrovert.

While I love working on fun projects with a lot of people, I also enjoy having time alone to recharge.

Being around others sparks my creativity and engages me in a way that I crave.

Being alone tends to be more relaxing.

I like having time to concentrate on creative work. I like being able to shut out the world to focus deeply on a fun project.

I like quiet time.

Natalie Goldberg encourages writing without thinking. Put a pen to the page, and let it flow. If you don’t know what to say, write, “I don’t know what to say.” Eventually, your mind will move on.

Julia Cameron talks about doing morning pages, which is a similar practice. Don’t stop. Just keep moving until you’ve written three pages. I’ve enjoyed doing this type of journal writing at various times in my life.

It’s different from trying to write a blog post. (Should it be?)

I think it’s particularly useful when I’m stuck. Maybe it’s time to do it again!
