As much as an artist may want to recreate scenes from our daily lives, that’s not what art is all about.
Art takes a stance.
Art says that the real world is something like THIS.
The artist knows that the real world is not at all like THIS. And that’s okay.
The artist asks the question, “What if…” the real world happened to be like THIS?
What if the Bible doesn’t hold all the answers?
What if scientific progress is too often blinded by big personal egos?
What if power is not the right indicator to appreciate societal advances?
What if the real world could be different than the one we think we see?
What if poverty and helplessness are temporary?
What if the true heroes are not recognized by “people who matter”?
What if our common dreams are more significant than we realize?
What if humans and dinosaurs could learn something from each other?
I don’t have the answers.
Artists can only ask the questions.
And the questions that resonate with enough people are passed along to others.
Artists live strange lives. And that’s the point!
