Writing – Elton John and Bernie Taupin

Sometimes, I like to learn how to play a favorite song of mine on the piano. And sometimes, I enjoy trying to sing and play one of these songs.

I don’t remember exactly when I first heard this song. I do remember that Joseph, my roommate in college, enjoyed playing the album Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy. I’m pretty sure that’s when I became enchanted with the lyrics, which describe their creative process, and the melody, which is a perfect fit.
