The Magic of Live Theatre

While I love that musicals and plays can be adapted to the screen, live theatre holds a special place in my heart. There is something magical about an audience gathering in person to watch a production in real-time.

Happy mistakes and accidents lend an ephemeral quality to live theatre. Each performance is unique. Each audience is different. The energy shared between performers and audience members shifts slightly with each performance.

If you miss seeing a particular show, you’ve missed it forever.

I am so proud of Karilyn T. Starks, who has spent the last two nights performing the role of Helen Bonfils in The Bonfils Girl.

Last night’s audience was more subdued than Thursday’s audience. Still, I think both enjoyed the show. Karilyn said she had more fun performing on Friday night.

On Thursday, I captured the performance on video. While this cannot express the magic of experiencing it live, it provides a glimpse into what happened at The Studio Loft in the Ellie Caulkins Opera House on July 11, 2024.

I’ll share a teaser video soon.
