George Lucas

If I had to state one movie that had the most profound impact on my life, it would be Star Wars: A New Hope.

I was a kid at the right age at the right time. When I first saw the movie in 1977, it blew me away! I had never seen anything quite so extraordinary on the screen before this. I somehow managed to watch it four times while it was being shown in the theaters.

From a previous blog post: “… I played with Star Wars toys, dressed up as Star Wars characters for Halloween, and even launched my own X-Wing rocket. It fed my desire to make movies.”

Then, in 1980, I saw The Empire Strikes Back. This movie was even better than the first one!

Even if he had never made another movie, George Lucas would have been one of my heroes. This is not to say that I’ve enjoyed all of his movies. Howard the Duck, for example, left something to be desired. Nevertheless, I remain a huge fan of his work.

He is perhaps best known for his merchandising. I mean, he might be best known for launching Industrial Light and Magic. What am I saying? He’s best known for Star Wars.

Not to mention Indiana Jones! George Lucas is a master storyteller.
