Audible Daily Deals

Yesterday, I purchased three books on Audible.

  1. The Pleasure of Finding Things Out
  2. The Venice Sketchbook
  3. Everything is F*cked

I’ve read two of these books before, The Pleasure of Finding Things Out and Everything is F*cked. So why did I purchase them again?

I tend to listen to more books than I read. Mostly, I would rather read books; however, when I’m driving, it makes much more sense to listen to audiobooks. So I like to have good books available on Audible.

If I want to remind myself of what’s in those books, I’m more likely to do so if I can listen to them.

I love the books I’ve read by Richard Feynman, one of my heroes. So why not get one of his books for less than six dollars when presented with the opportunity? I’ve also enjoyed reading Mark Manson’s books and the same logic holds.

When I read a book, I sometimes mark specific passages and quotes I want to return to. Sometimes, I jot down ideas that come to mind. This is a more active and productive approach to engaging with valuable ideas. Listening to audiobooks is a more passive experience for me. Still, I always like to have good audiobooks in my library!

The Venice Sketchbook is a novel that I have not read. I’m not familiar with other books by the same author. At some point, I’ve added this book to my Wish List based purely on a recommendation. When items from my Wish List happen to be on sale, I tend to purchase them.

When am I going to be able to listen to all of these? That’s a valid question! My Wish List contains more books than I’m ever going to read. And I even have trouble getting to all of the books that I’ve purchased.

So it goes!
