I don’t think much needs to be said about Stephen Spielberg, given that his work is so well known. It should come as no surprise that he’s one of my heroes.
The Indiana Jones movies impacted me most as I was growing up.
While I’m not a huge fan of shark movies, Jaws remains a classic for good reasons. It’s worth noting that the movies he made before Jaws are not nearly as well-known as those he made after Jaws.
I like to remind myself that directors need time to make okay movies before they tend to make great movies. This is certainly true of Alfred Hitchcock and many others.
The following Stephen Spielberg movies are the ones that I’ll never forget watching (often more than once).
- Close Encounters of the Third Kind
- E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial
- Empire of the Sun
- Shindler’s List
- A.I. Artificial Intelligence
- Minority Report
- Lincoln
- Ready Player One
- West Side Story
Of course, I also like a lot of his others! And I still need to watch The Fablemans.
